I hope you all got some great shots last night. We'll give you a little
time to sort through them and in two weeks on the 18th bring in your
best shots and we'll get them all together for Robert/Paul to work their
magic and create a show for the kids.
Next week we have our
Social Night. We'll meet in the Bridge at 8pm and then head over to the
Asian Harvest for dinner. So far we have numbers for 12 of us and this should work out at €20 per head for a two course meal.
Following on from discussions last night I think most of us are in
agreement that we need to push ourselves to work on portraits so keep in
mind that at some stage we will be revisiting this topic in the formal
mode of portraits i.e. the classic head & shoulders shot. This will
be a 'Project Work' so you can do this at home. Use whatever light you
wish be it natural, flash, candle, studio etc. or if you watched the
link sent out from Paul a couple of weeks ago you can use the light from
your mobile phone.
Speaking of Project Work we welcome it
back with Reflections. We've put aside Project Work for the past few
months but it's time to get back to it. For those who haven't come
across this before 'Project Work' or 'Homework' is when we take a topic
each week and the following week bring relative photos. We find it's a
great way of developing the creative process, can take us, sometimes,
out of our comfort zone (eg. if someone generally takes landscape photos
but has to take a still life - they now have to take into consideration
how they are going to use either natural light or new light source/s
and create a composition themselves). Most importantly it gets everyone
to use their cameras more often so they become more familiar with them.
Bring in your images on your pen drive/stick and we'll project them
from the laptop. To ease you in gently we'll give you two weeks for
that as well - 18th.
The 18th will be a very busy night as it's
'G Night' - don't ask me to postpone it again - if I'm asked to
postpone it again I'm gonna cancel it altogether!
And the
preferred topic for the Men's Challenge is 'Movement' and will take
place on the 25th along with the results from the Photo Hunt which is
being held on Sunday 22nd June.
